Key Steeler Lineman Looks Doubtful!

Rookie Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey looks doubtful for a Super Bowl start. This is good news for Green Bay's defensive front. Pouncey, the 18th overall pick in the 2010 draft, stepped up this season as an immediate starter, and has more than proven his elite draft status. He left last week's conference game against the New York Jets with an ankle injury. The organization has been quiet about it, but there's no hiding an elephant in the room. Especially when the elephant is in a cast and on crutches. Pouncey, a mere 6'4" and 304 lbs, has missed the first two team practices, and doesn't look any better. In fact, he looks worse. New medical information today suggests that he actually has a broken bone in his ankle. That can make planting your feet, and getting leverage a very painful experience. Should Pouncey sit, backup C Doug Legursky would get the start. Legursky stepped in for the injured Pouncey last week, and the dropoff was noticeable. There's no doubt that Green Bay nose tackle BJ Raji would prefer seeing Doug Legursky over Maurkice Pouncey.
