Sibling Selections: Chris' First Round Mock Draft

Hello, gang. By now you're well aware of my firm anti-mock draft stance. Ok, so it's really just an anti-Packer prediction stance. With ol' TT at the helm, who the hell knows which wide receiver from Mary Kay Online Technical School he plans on drafting in the 4th round - but I digress. For now, I turn the floor over to my brother, Chris. He has done his homework and come up with what I think is a pretty interesting 1st round mock. Here we go...

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Hello again, it's Zach - just clarifying. While the names here should all look familiar, the order is what intrigues me. Chris doesn't appear to be drinking the Cam Newton koolaid. I find it hard to believe that the Auburn QB and Heisman Trophy winner will be available for Dan Snyder and the 'Skins at number 10 overall. then again, the crop of players that appear before Newton on this list certainly have fewer question marks. So far the biggest pre-draft knock against Cam Newton is that he's got a massive ego and all the personally of a bowl of mashed potatoes - but man can he throw it. Luckily for Washington, Oakland doesn't even have a first round pick. Under Al Davis, the only thing more likely than the Raiders buying into the Kim Newton (sic) hype, is the team mismanaging its affairs so poorly that it doesn't even have a first round pick in a year when they need new talent badly. But when do the Raiders not need new talent badly?

Fast forward to the number 32 overall pick, and Chris is leaning towards Colorado OT Nate Solder. This is a logical choice for the Packers if he is still available. Two other big-talent needs are LB (keeping in mind that Nick Barnet is likely out of here) and DL (especially now that Johnny Jolly has quit football to become a professional drug-runner).

Personally, I'd like to see Ted Thompson stick to the offensive line in the first round. Veteran tackle Chad Clifton has perhaps just one more year before his knees and shoulders simultaneously explode, so he'll need to be replaced. Also, I must come out of the closet here as a
Daryn Colledge hater. Before you think I'm just judging him on the asinine spelling of his name, I implore you to find 3 consecutive games where Colledge did not commit a boneheaded penalty at a critical juncture. He's also frequently the cause of QB Aaron Rodgers scrambling. Hey, I love his scrambling as much as the next fan, but you don't stack a pile of million dollar bills under center and not at least try to build a brick wall to protect it. OT Bryan Bulaga was an excellent pick last year and I'd love to see the Packers find a buddy for him.
